Anarchs.jpg
The Anarchs of New Orleans are newly radicalized. For years, the covenant were unlikely bedfellows with Vidal: he gave them territory in Mid-City they got to run as a direct democracy (albeit still subject to his laws), with decisions made by popular vote. Older Anarchs like Coco Duquette and Miss Opal encouraged younger ones to “work within the system.” Resentment against the tyrannical prince built for years, though, and gains made by older Anarchs grew increasingly stale.

In 2015, Vidal was accused of concealing the deeds of an elder who’d secretly been feeding upon and blood bonding Anarch neonates. Vidal denied it. The Movement split into two camps: those who said the prince was full of shit, and those who kept their mouths closed (and may or may not have believed him). In 2016, following the final death of the city’s sheriff in the Battle of Mt. Carmel, the Hardline Sanctified’s power took a substantial blow. The Anarchs fought a brief but vicious civil war during the Battle of Mid-City to determine the covenant’s future direction. The creed of “work within the system” is now dead. Anarchs who supported Vidal have either fled the city, recanted that support, or met final death. The significance of this event is hard to overstate: for centuries, Savoy, the Baron, and their followers were the only Kindred who defied the prince. The Anarchs just became the third group to, and they take great pride in this fact. Tonight’s Anarchs are fed up with the status quo and want to radically transform the city—although into what varies by Anarch. The Movement is currently split into two major camps.

The Mamanems, led by Miss Opal, make their home in Mid-City. They are closely allied with the Circle of the Crone, who lent them significant aid against Coco’s Anarchs: this alliance is the principle factor that keeps the Hardline Sanctified from retaking Mid-City. Vodoun and celebration of traditional African-American culture has flourished among the Mamanems, and the sentiment of “mama knowing best” is fairly prevalent: Miss Opal sees herself as the camp’s “big mama” and many of its Nosferatu members are her descendants. They derive their name from “ya mom’n’em,” a mortal New Orleans expression that refers to someone’s family members.

The Firebrands, led by Veronica Alsten-Pirrie, make their home in the French Quarter and are allied with the Bourbon Sanctified. They were the first Anarchs to turn against Vidal in 2015 (the Mamanems waited until 2016) and the camp is stereotyped as consisting more of hotheads and agitators.

Unlike the Sanctified, the Firebrands and the Mamanems aren’t at war with one another. Both are of the consensus that Vidal must go, and both have struck blows against the prince. Neither wishes to be used solely as pawns and accessories, either, by their Crone and Bourbon allies: the Anarchs are stronger together than they are apart. They have different visions for what the city should look like after Vidal is gone, though, and Veronica and Miss Opal are both thought to desire greater influence over the other’s followers. For now, more subtle maneuverings for power are the order of the night.

Before 2015

The following description applied to the Anarchs before the summer of 2015:

The Anarchs of New Orleans are not the wild, gun-toting hooligans whose stereotype defines the California Free State—or at least, the influential ones aren’t. Prince Vidal remembers the tumultuous nights of the original Anarch Revolt and is extraordinarily harsh in punishing rabble-rousers who would upset the Camarilla’s order. Anarchs who have achieved any measure of status in the Big Easy have learned to work from within the system, side-by-side with the prince, in hopes of effecting change. Indeed, they have actually managed to insert themselves into a few fairly important positions in the city hierarchy. Two of the city’s primogen, Miss Opal and Coco Duquette, consider themselves Anarchs. Between their efforts, they have managed to restrain Prince Vidal from oppressing the local Unbound to quite the same extent that he throws his weight against the Invictus and the Circle of the Crone. (Of course, some argue that his tolerance of the Anarchs is based less on the efforts of these two primogen and more on the fact that the Anarchs simply don’t pose much of a threat.)

Ultimately, the Anarch goals in New Orleans are similar to the covenant’s objectives elsewhere: to establish a Kindred leadership based on more democratic (or at least egalitarian) principles than rule by eldest or by divine right. Neither Duquette nor Miss Opal has any delusions, though. Their positions simply aren’t strong enough to push for any sort of major change. For the time being they perform a balancing act, arguing and maneuvering to restrain the worst of Vidal’s excesses (as they see them), while never opposing him so strongly that he considers them actual enemies.

In the interim, they recruit, speaking often to young Kindred of all the covenants—and other factions besides Vidal’s when they can get away with it. They’ve actually succeeded in bolstering their numbers since Hurricane Katrina, though the overwhelming majority of new recruits comprises neonates, some of whom do not even dwell in New Orleans proper, but in the surrounding parishes and communities. The Anarchs also make a habit of playing intermediary, carrying messages between and working with multiple opposed parties, even hosting the occasional meeting between Vidal’s, Savoy’s and/or Baron Cimitière’s representatives. By doing so, they hope to make themselves useful to all three factions. If they can maintain their position, they prevent any of the primary factions from turning against them, and have already proven themselves a valuable ally should one faction finally gain a true victory over the others.

Miss_Opal_Small.jpg Miss Opal

Lineage: 8th gen. childe of Virginia de Palencia
Embrace: 1748
Status: Anarch ••••, Camarilla ••••, Nosferatu •••••
Coterie: The Cabildo ••••
The massively obese Nosferatu primogen and co-regent of Mid-City is Coco’s counterpart among the Anarchs, but few doubt her foremost devotion is to her own clan. She treats the city’s sewer rats (most of whom are her descendants) with perversely maternal affection, and they love their “big mama” right back.

ArmandChassagnac.jpg Armand “Misser Shoofly” Chassagnac

Ghouled: 1748
Status: Ghouls ••••
Miss Opal’s herald. Born Sint Joris van Rijn, this native Dutchman of the Spanish Netherlands served as a spymaster during the War of Spanish Succession and played both France and the Holy Roman Empire against one another. When his duplicity was discovered by Louis XIV, Armand (as he renamed himself) fled with the ill-gotten riches he had been payed by both crowns and established a plantation in far-away Louisiana. Unable to sit completely idle, he took to tormenting his slaves, with Miss Opal being one of his favorite victims. In the 263 years since his retributive ghouling, Armand (who is more commonly known as “Misser Shoofly” among the Nosferatu for the constant swarm of horrifyingly large and bloodthirsty ghoul-flies that harangue him) has been twisted into a slavish, utterly obedient devotee of the Nosferatu primogen—and if he harbors any ill-will towards his former property, he hides it extremely well.

MOsesCooney.png Moses “Moe” Cooney

Ghouled: 1958
Status: Ghouls •
A blue collar Irish-American, Moe was a political activist, union striker, and open communist during the McCarthy era. For these views and activities, he was arrested on flimsy charges and sentenced with paper-thin legality to receive a chemical lobotomy for being “mentally disturbed and a public menace to society.” The chemical lesion killed Moe’s political zealotry, transforming him into a pliant, if mentally blunted citizen. Later, as an awkward apology, the state gave Moe a job as a sanitation worker, cleaning and maintaining NOLA’s sewers and riding along as a garbage collector. His own ambition already murdered, Moe naturally agreed and has placidly continued those duties for more than 50 years. Aware of the state’s unjust treatment of Moe, while also recognizing that the former activist’s position and mental condition made him the perfect, unsuspecting spy, Miss Opal ghouled him during one of his routine forays into NOLA’s sewers. Since then, he has served her as a largely unthinking but utilitarian spy. Everyone from the mightiest CBD magnate to the poorest Ninth Ward junkie wants their trash collected and sewer lines running, after all. Moreover, most individuals tend to let their guard down in the presence of the mentally disabled, making Moe one of Miss Opal’s favorite spies. Indeed, Moe has been become something of a pet to the local Nosferatu, pitied but generally well-liked and protected. Although benefiting from this position, Moe, due to his condition, remains all but unaware of these relationships and attitudes. Intriguingly though, vitae sometimes restores some of Moe’s mental vitality, which has caused the sewer rats to debate whether Embracing him would completely and permanently restore his cognitive faculties or forever trap him in his blunted brain. Blissfully unaware of this debate, Moe simply continues to scrub feces-laden pipes, hose down garbage bins, and tell the “mashed-tater-face lady” everything he sees and hears.

Esther_Sue_Parker.jpeg Esther Sue Parker

Lineage: 9th gen. childe of Miss Opal
Embrace: 1993
Status: Anarch •••, Camarilla ••, Nosferatu •••
Coterie: Kindred Liberation Front ••
Miss Opal’s youngest childe was a former schoolteacher and crusading city councilwoman who was one of the first African-American women elected to public office in New Orleans. Miss Opal was content to quietly back Parker’s career, for such a public figure would not normally have warranted the Embrace. Parker earned an exception after her initiative to make the old line Mardi Gras krewes disclose their membership (on the basis they were racially discriminatory organizations making use of public funds) resulted in Harlequin conspiring to destroy her life and send her to a mental institution. Miss Opal could not bear to see the decades-serving councilwoman’s life and public career end so ignobly and offered her a way out.
While only a neonate in Kindred years, Parker was past retirement age by the time of her Embrace and had over 40 years of public service experience. She was drawn to the Anarchs even without her sire’s encouragement, seeing a great deal in Kindred society that needed reform. While she rose rapidly among their ranks, she took poorly to a neonate’s expected role at the bottom of the pile within larger Kindred society: many creoles pointed to her as an example of why it’s better to Embrace younger childer “who can still be molded.” Her all-too predictable clashes with Harlequin led many to wonder if Vidal had approved her Embrace purely so that two “allies” he regarded as less than loyal would spend more of their time frustrating one another than frustrating him. After Harlequin slew one of Parker’s mortal children in the early 2000s and she Embraced him (without permission, though with confession) to save his life, Vidal exiled her from New Orleans. She re-settled in Baton Rouge, where she assisted in Lawrence Meeks’ coup against Marcel Guilbeau and made a further name for herself during the 2006 Houston conclave.
Vidal granted Parker permission to return to New Orleans in late 2015 following Baptiste du Lac’s execution, who she has replaced as clan whip. Popular rumor abounds that Miss Opal either had a boon on the prince, or called in a marker from some other elder who called in one they had on Vidal, to get him to rescind Parker’s exile: certainly, the prince’s impending torpor (and doubts over whether he’ll be in any position to reclaim his throne) means the time is now to cash in his debts.
Parker, for her part, has re-assumed her old role among her clan and covenant with the same unapologetic resolve to turn things around that characterized her tenure as city councilwoman. Everyone knows what Harlequin thinks of that.

Pic.jpg Jonah Freeman

Lineage: 11th gen. childe of Foxfire
Embrace: 1963
Status: Anarch •••, Brujah ••, Camarilla •, Circle of the Crone
Coterie: Kindred Liberation Front •••
Civil Rights activist and Black Panther Embraced during the ‘60s. Jonah was an Anarch who spent most of his Requiem in Atlanta before before moving to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina: he’d learned his mortal grandmother was a follower of the religion and found that its African roots greatly appealed to him. He is interested in establishing closer ties between the Anarchs and the Acolytes, but has been frustrated by Coco’s and Miss Opal’s support of Vidal. He avoids carrying around the trappings of Vodoun, still considering himself only a beginner in the religion despite close to a decade of study. Since 2013, he’s transferred his passion for racial justice to the Black Lives Matter movement.

Max.jpg Maxzille “Max” “Zilly” “Zillah” Babineaux

Lineage: 10th gen. childe Abraham Garcia
Embrace: 1969
Status: Anarch •••, Camarilla ••, Toreador
Coterie: The Kindred Liberation Front •••
Maxzille was a true child of the ‘60s: a hippie, antiwar activist, and talented folk musician who was also the first in her poverty-stricken Cajun family to attend college “out in the big city.” Although Accou received her cordially after her Embrace into the clan, she couldn’t countenance joining the Invictus, which she regarded as the establishment she’d spent her mortal life fighting against. Besides, many of her clanmates were “big city Creoles” who’d always looked down on “small town Cajuns” like her.
Maxzille was the first among her clan to join the Anarchs and privately has a somewhat ‘told you so’ attitude towards the later wave of Toreador who went Anarch in the ‘70s after Pearl Chastain alienated them. Maxzille isn’t much bothered by her relative lack of respect among her clan and is happy to “make all the music I want” at Brujah rants and Gangrel things, where she enjoys good relations with both clans and prefers the livelier audiences anyway.
A founding member of the Kindred Liberation Friend, the city’s oldest still-extant Anarch krewe, she and her lover Jonah Freeman were content to quietly support Coco’s goal of making Mid-City as hospitable to Anarch ideals as they could under Sanctified rule. Following the 2015 Anarch split and the defections of Veronica Alsten-Pirrie, Shep Jennings, and Pietro Silvestri over to Savoy’s camp, Max and her lover and the recently returned Esther Sue Parker have wound up as the next rung of leadership among the ‘Loyalist Anarchs’ after Coco and Miss Opal.
Maxzille enjoys the dubious distinction of being the Anarch with the most nickname and responds equally to any of the following: Max, Maxy, Zillah, Zilly, and Zill.

JenniferHaley.jpg Jennifer Haley

Ghouled: 2002
Status: Ghouls ••
Formerly the herald of Marine Riqueti, a visiting Brujah involved in the women’s suffragist movement, Jennifer Haley lost her domitor to Katrina’s ravages. Sympathetic to that loss (or perhaps simply wishing to appear charitable by adopting a “Katrina orphan”) Coco Duquette took Jennifer under her wing, where she has since served as herald for the Brujah primogen. Ghouled in her prime and “fortunate” enough to have a steady supply of vitae, Jennifer resembles a young, twenty-year-old woman with curly blonde hair who dresses in college-age fashions. Her mien, like her master’s, is understated, disarming, and surprisingly charming. After Coco was destroyed in the 2016 Battle of Mid-City, she wound up in the possession of her current domitor Maxzille.

No_Pic.jpg Gerald “Greasy” Abellard

Lineage: 11th gen. childe of Randolph Cartwright
Embrace: 2006
Status: Anarch ••, Camarilla 0, Nosferatu ••
Coterie: Twenty-Twenties ••
A Baton Rouge computer science graduate Embraced by Randolph Cartwright to help manage his business holdings as well as catch up the local clan on ShreckNet. To Randolph’s chagrin, Abellard only succeeded at that latter endeavor, jumping ship and joining the Anarchs upon concluding his sire was a monster in more ways than one, as the once-mortal hacktivist couldn’t stand working for a fossil fuel industry fat cat. Both within and outside NOLA, he has some gained popularity among his clan’s neonates for his ShreckNet podcast that he hosts with his ghouled chimpanzee.

JeanSantMalo.png Jean Sant Malo

Ghouled: 2011
Status: Ghouls 0
A male chimpanzee test subject in an oncology research lab at Tulane, Jean Sant Malo (then known as Subject 259Q-R04) was “liberated” by Professors Petrowski and Delacroix and some environmental activists as part of a larger act of ecotage. Jordan later ghouled the chimpanzee, effectively curing its cancer, and named the ape after one of the prominent slave-rebels of the 1811 Uprising. However, the ape quickly proved an unruly and untenable houseguest for the suburban professor. Reluctantly and under significant pressure from within and outside his clan, he gave the chimpanzee to Gerald Abellard. Since then, the Nosferatu ghoul has grown to become a hulking, hyper-aggressive bodyguard and bosom buddy of the hacktivist. In fact, Jean Sant Malo is Greasy’s “co-host” of their increasingly popular ShreckNET podcast, Malo & Me (Throw Shit at Stuff and See What Sticks). Amongst the kine, Malo’s hoots and howls have created all number of urban legends, as if the Nosferatu’s ghouled alligators, blood flies, and monstrous roaches weren’t enough.

Andy.jpg Andrew Philips

Lineage: 11th gen. childe of Rocco Agnello
Embrace: 2011
Status: Anarch Movement •, Camarilla 0, Gangrel Status 0
Coterie: Twenty-Twenties ••
A fat, grotesque creature that looks more rat than man. Rocco Agnello believed Andrew was a budding computer genius and Embraced him to keep up with the rapidly evolving field. Knowing little of modern technology, he did not realize that his new childe was a simple slob and social recluse who spent all of his time on computers while lacking significant actual technical knowledge of the field. Andrew now spends most of his time playing video games, trolling people, and commenting on conspiracy theories. Sire and childe are still on amicable enough terms, but Rocco remains disappointed that Andrew is in no way the IT savant he originally presumed his childe to be.

No_Pic.jpg Devon Pierce

Ghouled: 2011
Status: Ghouls •
Rocco’s younger childe is too ugly to seduce victims and lacks sufficient upper body strength to take them by force (at least without expending precious blood). That left taking them unwittingly. While his Nosferatu krewemates Gerald and Arzilla were freely willing to teach him obfuscate, Andrew still complained to his sire that feeding was hard unless the victim was already sleeping. Breaking into homes, however, was also hard: it was noisy and forced the now-eternally out of shape neonate to expend precious blood. After enough wheedling, Rocco turned to Donovan, who turned over a youth arrested by the NOPD who’d been busted on multiple counts of breaking and entering. That was all Andrew needed.
In exchange for immortality, Devon Pierce spends his nights covertly breaking into homes so that his domitor (who shows little interest in learning how to do so himself) may feed upon the sleeping occupants with less chance of disturbance. Devon considers it a good deal. He gets to live forever, and the tricks he’s learned (his domitor has passed on obfuscate to him) make robbing homes easier than ever. The mob fences associated with his domitor’s sire ask even fewer questions than his old ones. Devon is greedy for a plusher lifestyle, however (Andrew has neither the funds nor the inclination to financially support him), and Rocco has cautioned his childe more than once that a pattern of robbed homes linked to locations where he’s fed may eventually attract the wrong kind of scrutiny. Andrew has halfheartedly told Devon to “take less stuff” a few times, but doesn’t have it in him to discipline the ghoul more seriously.

Stacy.jpg Stacy Daniels

Stacy used to have dreams and ambitions. She used to have a family, boyfriend, and good looks. She used to have a future. It was her bad luck to take the same Sociology 101 class with Andrew Philips as a mortal.

Ayame.jpg Ayame Seong-Jin

Lineage: 10th gen. childe of Angel
Embrace: 2010
Status: Anarch 0, Camarilla 0, Toreador 0
Ayame is a second-generation Korean-American born in Houston. The youngest of three children, Ayame grew up in the shadow of her older brothers and followed one of them into the less-than-stellar life of street crime in her early teens. For many years she was able to make it work, straddling the line between gifted high schooler and criminal, but everything came crashing down around her when she caught the eye of a local Los Zetas member who numbered among the Damned. He took her for his own, keeping her as a ghoul for three long, painful years. On her twenty-third birthday her sire granted her the Embrace. She left the city at her sire’s urging, heading to Baton Rouge before settling in New Orleans and taking up with the Anarchs. She spends most of her time penning urban fiction novels.

Arzilla.jpg Arzilla Boudon

Lineage: 11th gen. childe of Randolph Cartwright
Embrace: 1987
Status: Anarch •, Camarilla Status •, Nosferatu ••
Coterie: Twenty-Twenties ••
Arzilla was a young Cajun woman who ran away from an abusive home in a poverty-stricken small Louisiana town. She hoped to make a fresh start in the big city, but without any money, support network, or high school diploma, she ended up being forced into prostitution. It wasn’t long afterwards that Randolph Cartwright took her as one of his “wives.” When he overfed from her to the point of death, he Embraced her in one of his few moments of remorse. Any pity he felt for his childe vanished when her transformation burned away her beauty.
For years, Arzilla remained fixated with her hideousness and was a bitter, hateful thing obsessed with finding ways to make beautiful people defile themselves. When Katrina struck, she made a beeline for Lakeview—perhaps the most devastated neighborhood in the city—bleakly declaring she wanted an end to it all. Lake Pontchartrain’s floodwaters swept her away and she was presumed destroyed. Several weeks later, she was found to have survived. More, she had changed. Though her bitterness wasn’t gone, her heart seemed much calmed. She does not speak of what she experienced in Lakeview.
Arzilla has a natural flair for Obfuscate and is thought to serve as one of her clan’s most direct sets of eyes and ears, eavesdropping on countless Kindred conversations. She engages in a constant stream of filthy, belittling insults with her younger brother-in-blood Gerald Abellard, but the two are actually quite close despite the verbal abuse they heap upon one another nightly.

Coterie: The Kindred Liberation Front ••
Originally hailing from Savannah, Georgia, Simon had made his way to Houston by Hurricane Katrina. He hit off with the Kindred Liberation Front (New Orleans’ oldest Anarch gang) when they clashed with some local Anarchs and made a good accounting for himself during the battle. He came back to New Orleans with them when the city rebounded and is now considered a loyal, though quiet, member of the krewe. Simon maintains something of Beatnik image and is fond of quoting Allen Ginsberg and Ken Kesey. He defers to the more experienced members of the gang and acts in a scouting role when the KLF gets into conflicts.

Lineage: 8th gen. childe of Accou Poincaré

Status: Anarch ••••, Camarilla •••, Toreador •••
Coteries: Antoine Savoy’s inner circle, the harpies •••
Veronica was a flapper and jazz singer Embraced by Accou during the Roaring Twenties for her pretty voice and fiery spirit. She served as a loyal member of the Invictus until Pearl Chastain’s rise from torpor in the ‘70s. Veronica found her grandsire a hopelessly antiquated has-been and stifling influence that her clan and covenant would be better off without. Her sire, who willingly surrendered power back to Chastain, did not agree. Veronica promptly defected to the Anarch Movement and led a wave of younger Toreador with her. She remains on strained terms with her Invictus kin, although the bitterest venom seems to come from her. When not performing at nightclubs and basking among her kine admirers, she is engaged in a bitter three-way feud with her fellow harpies Katherine Beaumont and Marguerite Defallier. Veronica considers her former to be full of herself and the latter pathetic for clinging to a covenant whose leaders don’t respect her.
In 2015, Veronica learned the exiled Ventrue John Harley Matheson had been feeding on neonates lured to his out-of-town plantation, her childe Amaryllis among them. Outraged by the apparent blind eye had Prince Vidal turned to his clanmate’s depravities, she led a split among the Anarchs to throw their support behind Antoine Savoy and now stands as one of his most vocal partisans and valuable allies.

Her hair is dark, her skin somewhere between white and black, but despite the common belief that she is of African descent she claims that both of her parents were from Fiji. She has been at Veronica’s side since the Kindred claimed her around the end of WWII, and her time as herald has done nothing but embolden her. She keeps her mistress’ other ghouls in line, and even the occasional fledgling has found themselves on the wrong side of her ire. Veronica is fond of saying the girl is a “mini me,” complete with her sexually deviant reputation, though the ghoul is said to enjoy the company of older men.

Embrace: 1931
Status: Anarch •••, Camarilla •, Toreador
A Sicilian malcontent and ne’er-do-well, Pietro was already an accomplished art thief in life and his Embrace only made him better in that regard. In the century since his Becoming, he has also expressed himself among the Toreador by becoming an accomplished art forger. Many of them consider such work “derivative” but he says, “Who cares? It sells. Money is beautiful, too.” Whenever something goes missing in the city, Kindred assume Pietro is involved. He often is.
Since the recent factional split among the Anarchs, he has taken up with Antoine Savoy.

Alan has one of those smiles that makes you want to punch the guy in his face. The smarmy kind, like he thinks he knows more than you. He’s charming, though, and he’s probably got what you need. Art? Cars? Jewels? Drugs? Guy could sell ice to an Eskimo in the middle of winter. Was a used car salesman at some point, but Silvestri obviously liked the cut of his jib since he took the guy in. Always trying to sell something to someone, whether it’s physical goods or an idea. “Do it for the commish,” he’s fond of saying. Gets on well with most people, honestly, silver-tongued flatterer that he is. Some people think he’s pretty stand up. Or maybe he just pulled the wool over their eyes, too. Has the hots for Clementine Jasper-Kumar. “She only looks underage,” but apparently that’s how he likes them. Serves as a herald of sorts for his domitor, Pietro, and talks about a million miles an hour.

Lineage: 10th gen. childe of unknown sire
Embrace: 1893
Status: Brujah •••, Anarch •••, Camarilla
Coterie: Night Axels •••
For decades, the so-called “voice of the onbound” in New Orleans, Shep Jennings, has striven to bring equality and enfranchisement to the Anarch Movement in a city which he feels has become Augusto Vidal’s private religious sanctum. Jennings was born during Reconstruction and is thought to be the oldest Anarch in the city after Coco Duquette and Miss Opal. He wasn’t born a slave, but his parents were, and his Embrace did little to improve his opinion of the world. He developed a chip on his shoulder against seemingly elder in New Orleans, whom he viewed (correctly) as complicit in slavery. Jennings was long frustrated by the slow pace of change in Kindred society and not above using violent and thuggish means to achieve his ends. After Hurricane Katrina, he apparently savvied up and started using diplomacy and subterfuge over more brutish options, leading to Kindred in power to finally take him more seriously. He’s also known for being a car thief and running a chop shop that can disassemble vehicles faster than any mortal thieves. He rarely lacks for business, as there are always vampires whose victims leave behind inconvenient cars.

andismall.png Andromeda Brooks

Lineage: 9th gen. childe of Perseus
Embrace: 1999
Status: Anarch ••, Caitiff -, Camarilla 0
Coterie: OXR ••
Born just before the emergence of punk music, Andi spent her mortal years jamming to records and dreaming of being a rock star. She was in New York during a Sabbat incursion and was caught up by a pack and brought to the site of their Mass Embrace, where her Malkavian sire found and “saved” her by granting her the Embrace. She spent years bound to him before running into Alexander Wright, who was in the city to assist with the Camarilla takeover. He brought her back to New Orleans with him when he left and she was granted permission to stay within the city, though she was more interested in the Anarch cause than serving a prince. When Veronica led a wave of Anarchs over to Savoy’s bloc it made sense for her to jump ship with the rest of her krewe, and the French Quarter lord’s lax view on the clanless prompted Andi to come out as Caitiff rather than continue the Malkavian charade. The clan seemed largely unsurprised: Harlequin had previously snubbed her and other Malkavians said that ”she just wasn’t our brand of crazy.” Andi is a part-time resident of New Orleans, on the road more often than not with her krewe-mate Tyrell where she performs with her band, Love & Liars all over the country. She’s a frequent sight around the Quarter and Marigny when she’s in town and enjoys an easy friendship with the Nosferatu Sundown. She’s been known to don the occasional disguise to perform while she’s at home at the various clubs and venues in the area. While many of the city’s older Kindred (especially the Toreador) might think her music is nothing but loud noises, Andi hasn’t seemed too put out by it. After all, none of them are playing for sold-out stadiums or consistently topping the charts with their new releases.

The Twins have their own name, but Andi only ever refers to them as their moniker, “The Twins.” One plays guitar, the other keyboard, and both are as devoted to their domitor as any ghoul has a right to be. They don’t seem to do anything for her outside of serving in the band, and the two are never seen without the other in company.

He continued his Requiem largely the same way, sticking it to princes who mistreated him for his clanless blood and surviving unlife on the road as a nomad. He came to New Orleans in 2016 for Mardi Gras and joined Shep Jennings’ krewe after deciding he was happy to stick it to this city’s prince too. Permanently staying in the Big Easy doesn’t agree with him and he’s often away on his motorbike. For the right price, he’s happy to ferry other licks between cities and help them survive the perils of the road.

Eris.jpg Eris D.

Lineage: 12th gen. childe of Jonah Freeman
Embrace: 1979
Status: Anarch ••, Brujah •, Camarilla •, Circle of the Crone ••
Coterie: Kindred Liberation Front ••
A ‘70s feminist and neopagan who never quite realized she missed the ’60s, Eris spent her mortal life bucking the establishment and throwing herself into anything that wasn’t mainstream. Embraced by Jonah for her magical dabblings, but her sire’s vitae unhinged something in her. She became devoted to the idea of promoting chaos, even changing her mortal name to Eris. She is convinced that Malkavians possess profound insight into the true nature of reality and is on exceptionally good terms with the clan, who find her more “open-minded” than other Kindred. It’s not uncommon for many licks to mistake her for one of the kooks herself.

Marcio.jpg Marcio de la Cruz

Lineage: 13th gen. childe of Alejandro Gálvez
Embrace: Late 20th century
Status: Anarch ••, Caitiff -, Camarilla 0
Coterie: Night Axels ••
Many Kindred assume the fire-eyed young Marcio is a Brujah from how passionate he is about his political views. Born in Nicaragua with relatives from Guatemala, Marcio lost family to no less than two separate U.S. foreign interventions: the Nicaraguan Revolution and the 1954 Guatemalan coup d’etat. He joined the Sandinista National Liberation Front. at a young age and was Embraced by an Anarch sire after being terminally wounded in a shootout against the Contras so he could continue the fight eternally. Marcio remained a rabble-rouser in death and fought against the Ventrue prince of Managua, Alicia Penobscott, for years until she destroyed his sire and coterie in the 2010s. Marcio fled on the next ship to New Orleans, as the city was a long-time trading partner with Central America. He never presented himself before Vidal and kept a low profile in Mid-City as part of Shep Jennings’ coterie until the 2015 Anarch split. Vidal has had amicable relationships with other Spanish-descended princes in Latin America and figures the staked Caitiff would make a useful gift or bargaining chip at some point, but hasn’t considered him important enough to hunt down.
Marcio was a zealous communist for decades, but has grown disillusioned with Marx in favor of anarcho-syndicalism. He believes all power structures are inherently unequal and that the only answer is to burn it all down, with no higher Kindred government than one’s own coterie. Unlike many Anarchs, he considers the Los Angeles Free State to be a rousing success and only tolerates Antoine Savoy as the lesser evil. He despises fascists and is involved with Antifa and several other far-left political groups.

benji.png Benjamin Moore

Lineage: Unknown
Embrace: 2013
Status: Anarch •, Bourbon Sanctified •, Caitiff -, Camarilla 0
Coterie: OXR ••
Benjamin was a disenfranchised youth that grew up thinking he’d eventually be somebody. His dreams were dashed when he realized after his Embrace that he had joined a whole community of people who would always look down at him for his clanless blood. Anarch leanings but stays in the Quarter, Benji spends most of his time writing songs about rebellion and how “the man” is trying to keep people down. He’s rumored to be lovers with a certain other Caitiff musician and krewed up with her in OXR.

Jonas.jpg Edward “Ed” Zuric

Lineage: 13th gen. childe of Andrea Oulette
Embrace: 2004
Status: Anarch •, Bourbon Sanctified 0, Camarilla •, Gangrel Status •
Coterie: Armstrong Five
An itinerant guitarist and country/blues musician, Zuric made his living as a busker across the country before 2004’s Mardi Gras, where he was Embraced and abandoned alongside several other fledglings in Louis Armstrong Park for reasons unknown. Zuric and his fellows made a minor name for themselves tracking down their sires and bringing most to justice, and the bonds of friendship Zuric established with the coterie (who came to be known as the Armstrong Five) convinced him New Orleans was a good place to settle down—until Katrina. Already used to life as a drifter, he weathered the storm’s aftermath and was back by the 2010s. He’s largely content to spend his Requiem busking in the Quarter, picking up girls, and sometimes hitting the road to play in other cities as the mood strikes him.
Zuric was largely content to stay out of politics until the 2015 Anarch split. He sided with Antoine Savoy out of disgust after John Harley Matheson’s then-agent George Smith allegedly attempted to trick him into serving as one of the banished elder’s vessels. His feelings towards his former coterie-mate Becky Lynne remain unknown.

Frank_Larsen.jpg Frank Larsen

Lineage: 10th gen. childe of Monty Lestrange
Embrace: 2005
Status: Anarch •, Camarilla 0
Coterie: Twenty-Twenties ••, Malkavian ••
“Photojournalist” at a gossip rag who has a knack for being at the right place at the wrong time. Since his Embrace, he has grown increasingly paranoid about this fact and claims to see “connections everywhere”. He sometimes hires out his talents for collecting photographic evidence of individuals in compromising positions, and has an uncanny gift for capturing photos that others dismiss as impossible—the more impossible the assignment, the more thorough the evidence he seems able to collect.

No_Pic.jpg Laura Ravenwood

Lineage: 12th gen. childe of unknown sire
Embrace: 1997
Status: Anarch •, Caitiff -, Camarilla 0
Coterie: The Kindred Liberation Front ••
Laura was always a romantic, raised on the works of Victorian poets and American Transcendentalists. Like many Caitiff, it’s unknown who Embraced her, but the depth and complexity of vampiric society appealed to her literary side and she found it deeply fascinating. She came to New Orleans with Jordan Petrowski in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, hoping to immerse herself in the splendor of “the most vampiric city in the world.” Though she dresses and comports herelf well, and can fluently discourse on literary classics, her clanless blood meant that other Kindred did not accept her nearly so well as she hoped. She’s fallen in with the KLF Anarch gang and regularly shows up to Elysium, though the harpies make fun of her for being “a Caitiff who wishes she was Toreador” if they’re bored for anything else to do.

jadealter.png Ren Zahrah

Lineage: 11th gen. childe of Michael Dupont
Embrace: 1997
Status: Anarch •, Camarilla 0, Gangrel 0
Coterie: OXR ••
Ren Zahrah arrived in the city shortly a few years after Katrina. She says she visited with her sire once in the late 20th century for Mardi Gras and found the city “delightful.” When her sire was slain by a roaming Sabbat pack during a visit to New Mexico Ren barely escaped with her unlife, and it was only the actions of Dupont’s ghoul that allowed her to slip free and get out of the city before the pack could track her down. She said she’d heard of the prowess of Prince Vidal even as far as Vegas and wanted a home where she could feel safe from the godless cretins that had taken her sire from her. She presented herself before the seneschal upon her arrival and was accepted into the city. Her “experience” fighting off Sabbat packs saw her courted by a number of licks (mostly neonates) who sought opinions on how to keep themselves safe during Mardi Gras, and she was well-received by the Lord of the French Quarter, whose territory sees the worst of the invasion during the yearly celebration. She was approached by OXR almost immediately after her arrival and joined their numbers without a second thought.

Pic.jpg Tyrell Turner

Lineage: 11th gen. childe of Shejana Džugi
Embrace: 1998
Status: Anarch •, Camarilla •, Ravnos
Coterie: OXR ••
Tyrell is out of the city more often than not with his krewemate Andromeda Brooks. While she performs, he uses his time to rub elbows with antique collectors and dealers so he can bring them back to the city to sell at his store, Anecdotes. He doesn’t seem particularly interested in Kindred politics but has a nominal investment in the Anarch Movement, though some say that his neutrality is simply because of how frequently he travels: after all, he needs to be able to make friends everywhere if he wants to do business within the domains of other licks and expect to be invited back. He’s rather warm and sunny for a lick that’s decades old and likes to tell stories about his time in the war, though he’s never clarified which war. He has a soft spot for “undesirables” and enjoys collecting things.

tremereghoul.jpg Raveena Cartier

Ghouled: 1998
Status: Ghouls •
Raveena has been with Tyrell since he opened his shop in the late ‘90s. She either doesn’t have an eye or wears her patch out of solidarity with her domitor, no one is quite sure. Unlike Tyrell, though, her patch always remains on the one side. Regardless of who she is and where she came from, the girl has an affinity for sniffing out “real” antiques that are actually worth something, as opposed to the touristy-trash that most people bring her way. Still, she’s happy to scam anyone who doesn’t know the difference. Raveena is loyal enough that even when Tyrell is gone for months on end “chasing a deal,” she’s still there waiting for him when he comes back. She’s also taken remarkably well to managing the online store for a woman her age.

ghoul2.jpg Kevin Harrington

Ghouled: 2012
Status: Ghouls •
Kevin joined Tyrell after the lick watched him put someone’s face through a brick wall. It wasn’t so much the fact that the face went through the wall, which Tyrell has seen often enough from the Brujah he hangs out with, but the unflinching, cold way that the man did it. He’d just wiped the blood spatter off his coat as if it didn’t mean anything and left the corpse behind, never once giving a fuck that there were at least a dozen witnesses. Tyrell caught up with him and learned the man had once been some sort of army guy, the kind who gets answers out of people at any cost, and since his discharge he’s been picking up odd jobs for the local Mafia without really getting in too deep. He was happy to accept Tyrell’s offer to serve as muscle, and the man accompanies him on his trips out of state.

Embrace: 1792
Final Death: 2016 (224 years undead)
Status: Anarch ••••, Brujah Status ••••, Camarilla ••••
Coterie: Cabildo ••••, the princely contenders
Coco Duquette is Clan Brujah’s primogen, the co-regent of Mid-City, and the closest thing the Anarchs have to a leader. Embraced during the French Revolution, she believes that change is best effected by working peacefully within the system and is a long-time ally of Prince Vidal’s. She has won a number of gains for the unbound over the years, though her influence has taken a hit since the Trial of John Harley Matheson. She was slain during the 2016 Battle of Mid-City, following which Anarch support for Vidal crumbled.

Annie1_Small.jpg Annie Pope

Lineage: 8th gen. childe of unknown sire
Status: Anarch •••, Bourbon Sanctified •••, Brujah Status ••••, Camarilla ••
Embrace: 1813
Final Death: 2005 (192 years undead)
A former slave Embraced on an Antebellum plantation, Annie came to New Orleans because of its large free black population and either appropriated or inspired the local legend of Annie Christmas. True to its accounts, Annie was one of the physically strongest vampires and most brutal fighters in the city. Initially allied to Baron Cimitière, her ties to the city’s black community gave her considerable influence over its Reconstruction-era government. She allied with Roger Halliburton during his period of ascendancy, but crossed over to Vidal’s side at Coco Duquette’s behest. She soon grew dissatisfied with the prince and spent the next century moving between Coco, the Baron, and Antoine Savoy before settling in the French Quarter lord’s camp. For all her physical prowess, she was less politically astute than other elders, who were largely successful in manipulating her towards their own ends. Hurricane Katrina proved the one obstacle she couldn’t destroy with brute force.

No_Pic.jpg Francois Nicholas Du Valle

Lineage: Unknown
Embrace: Late 17th century
Final Death: 1815 (~100 years undead)
Status: Anarch •••, Camarilla 0, Malkavian •••
Little is remembered of this Malkavian save that he was one of the chief instigators of the final armed revolts against Vidal’s early reign. He was aided in this effort by Emmanuel Costa, the prince’s own childe. The two rebels and their conspirators were apprehended and executed. It’s unknown what turned Costa against his sire, but Du Valle is widely suspected to have played a part.

Desirae_Wells1.jpg Desirae Wells

Lineage: Unknown
Embrace: 2013
Final Death: 2016 (3 years undead)
Status: Anarch ••, Caitiff −, Camarilla
Coterie: Night Axels ••
Desirae Wells has total amnesia. She claims to remembers nothing of her mortal life or the circumstances of her Embrace during Mardi Gras several years ago, and often wanders the city seeking anything to spark her lost memories. She’s regarded as an amusing curiosity by many Kindred and has leveraged that perception into some modicum of status: while the local Camarilla elders won’t ever respect her, they see her as harmless and even tolerate her showing her face in Elysium. She’s perhaps the city’s most respected Caitiff, which together with her lack of political ties and skill at putting people at ease, led the Anarchs to make her their covenant’s representative and envoy in 2014. Wells herself runs with Shep Jennings’ krewe of Anarchs and often counsels the younger members towards greater restraint in their behavior.
Since the Anarchs’ factional split in 2015, Wells has walked a careful line trying to stay neutral between Coco’s and Veronica’s camps. Later that year, Caroline Malveaux-Devillers managed to uncover much of her mortal identity (including her birth name, though she’s decided to keep using ‘Desirae Wells’), though the circumstances of her Embrace remain a mystery—as does how she forgot her entire past.

Lineage: 11th gen. childe of Leon “8-Ball” White
Embrace: 1988
Final Death: 2016 (28 years undead)
Status: Anarch Movement ••, Bourbon Sanctified •, Camarilla 0, Lasombra
Coteries: Leviathan Committee ••, OXR •••
Born in Miami, Nico quickly became disillusioned with society’s idea of justice when his old man and a handful of other cops got off with nothing more than a slap on the wrist after they bludgeoned a black man to death. After the Miami Riots of 1980 Nico headed out to California, where he fell in with a drug smuggler who turned out to be a lick. His subsequent Embrace had him heading back to Miami before settling in New Orleans shortly after Katrina. He fell in with Antoine Savoy despite (or perhaps because of) his Anarch tendencies, scoffing at the idea of the Movement bowing and scraping to a prince for paltry handouts. He viewed those who’d let a Ventrue put them on their knees with contempt. Nico’s natural charisma might have made him a valuable asset to Veronica Alsten-Pirrie once she defected to Savoy’s camp since she didn’t seem interested in running any rants, but he disappeared in early 2011, long before the split. Nico returned to the city in 2016, where he fought against Sheriff Donovan during the Battle of Mt. Carmel and met final death. It came out afterwards that he was Lasombra; he’d long been presumed to be Caitiff.

Amaryllis.jpg Amaryllis “Ryllie” DeCuir

Lineage: 9th gen. childe of Veronica Alsten-Pirrie
Embrace: 2012
Final Death: 2016 (4 years undead)
Status: Anarch •, Camarilla 0, Toreador
Coterie: Golds ••
Ryllie was a jazz singer and recent graduate from Xavier University who caught her sire’s eye while performing at the Spotted Cat. She was talented enough, though prettier than she was talented: that was enough to catch her sire’s eye, and Veronica Embraced her in a fit of passion. The two remained close enough over the following years, which was its own achievement on Ryllie’s end given her sire’s temperament, but that changed following the 2015 scandal with John Harley Matheson: word on the street is that he fed on Ryllie like she was kine and blood bound her so that she enjoyed it and begged for more. Veronica abandoned her childe out of disgust and Ryllie remained loyal to the Hardliner-allied Anarchs after the factional split. She met final death during the 2016 Battle of Mid-City.

Final Death: 2015 (5 years undead)
Status: Anarch •, Brujah Status •, Camarilla 0
Coterie: Eight-Nine-Six •••
An angry young woman and perennial malcontent, Bliss Jackson was the leader of Eight-Nine-Six, one of Mid-City’s more violent Anarch gangs. She and her coterie-mates were executed during the 2016 Trial of John Harley Matheson for violations of the Masquerade.

Lineage: 11th gen. childe of Marcus Pollard
Embrace: 2011
Final Death: 2016 (5 years undead)
Status: Anarch •, Camarilla 0, Ravnos 0
Coterie: Night Axels
A petty criminal illegally Embraced in an act of passion, Isa was granted permission to dwell in New Orleans by Philip Maldonato after she betrayed her sire to the Guard de Ville. Isa fell in with Shep Jennings’ krewe of Anarchs and did nothing of particular note with her Requiem until 2016, when she baited Rocco Agnello into physically attacking her at Elysium. This action caused the hound great shame and loss of face, and almost certainly would have resulted in his exile from the city were he not a valued agent in Vidal’s service. Isa was torn to shreds shortly thereafter by Agnello’s feared sire, Caitlin Meadows. Her final death was mourned by few.

Micheal_small.jpg Micheal Kelly

Lineage: 9th gen. childe of Coco Duquette
Embrace: 1904
Final Death: 2016 (112 years undead)
Status: Anarch 0, Brujah Status 0, Camarilla 0
Micheal Kelly is Clan Brujah’s paper tiger. An OMC biker and World War II veteran who fought the Nazis in Europe (as a vampire), many of Kelly’s clanmates considered him a “badass” until the 2015 release of photographs that depicted him being gang-raped at the hands of Bobbi Jo Boggs’ biker gang, who also burned down his bar in Mid-City. It was Micheal’s lack of retaliation, however, that truly cemented his present reputation as a pushover. He spends his nights at Veronica Alsten-Pirrie’s side, who was once his lover but now mainly torments and abuses him for her own (and her other lovers’) amusement. Rumor claims she’s removed his cock and makes him wear a dress, but after turning against his sire in the 2015 Anarch split he has nowhere else to go. Most Kindred think he made up those stories about fighting in World War II. He was slain during the 2016 Battle of the Arts District.

Jack.jpg Smiling Jack

Lineage: 10th gen. childe of Mama Lion
Embrace: 17th century, Anarch •••••, Brujah ••••
Smiling Jack is one of Clan Brujah’s most notorious iconoclasts and infamous across the United States for the hell he raises in Ventrue-ruled cities. His preferred MOs are siring large numbers of Caitiff, making spectacular assassination attempts against princes, and simply beating the life out of any Ventrue toadies to cross his path. Jack is said to have been a pirate captain during his breathing days and remained active in the Gulf Coast and Caribbean following his Embrace, only now fighting against the Ventrue instead of Spanish dons. When Vidal declared his praxis over New Orleans, Jack took an instant dislike to the Ventrue prince and spent the next half-century assisting insurrections against his rule, including Du Valle’s and Emmanuel Costa’s revolts in 1815 (of which Jack is the sole known survivor). Jack fled the city after Vidal declared a blood hunt, but he’s come back semi-periodically over the centuries to raise hell, especially after the establishment of the California Free State in 1944. He was one of the primary instigators of the 1967 Carnival Coup and has fomented trouble as recently as Katrina. Vidal’s people are just glad he spends most of his time being a menace to other princes. Jack makes his base of operations in Los Angeles but frequently travels the country on a huge motorcycle. Coco and Miss Opal have publicly disavowed all association with him, though his exploits are legendary among younger Anarchs.
