Campaign of the Month: October 2017
Blood and Bourbon
Ambitious senator's wife & secret hunter
“God, I hate her. I think I always have. I think she’s always hated me too, thought I was nothing but a disappointment. When other kids got gifts and praise I got critiques and criticisms. My whole life I’ve never been good enough for her at anything, and it just got worse my whole life, and even after it… that doesn’t mean I don’t love her, or that she doesn’t love me too. That’s how family is sometimes: not all children are angels, and not all parents are saints.”
Claire Malveaux is a tall and willowy-figured woman in her mid-50s who sharestall height, sharp jawline and shoulder-length blonde hair, but not the wrinkles from age that her daughter will never acquire. On most occasions in public, she favors dark-hued blazers, pencil skirts, and heels that add to her already imposing height. Unlike many couples, she wears her wedding ring on a slim chain around her neck and has a second larger ring looped through it.
The picture of a trophy wife, Claire is a beautiful if aging woman who is socially witty and publicly loyal to her powerful husband, Senator Nathaniel Malveaux. Her own California-hailing family were wealthy but nouveau riche television executives who made their fortune during Claire’s lifetime. Some whisper that she married far above her station—though only behind her back. She attended Cornell University in her youth, where she met and charmed her future husband as a member of the Pi Alpha Kappa sorority. She was quite disappointed when her daughter Caroline was suddenly denied admission late in the process.
Claire lives in Baton Rouge but regularly travels between Washington D.C. and New Orleans, attending to her husband and children respectively. She is very protective of the latter and combines high expectations for them with excuses for their every mistake to others. She went to war for her middle son Westley, in particular after he was arrested for a DUI-related accident that resulted in fatalities. She has been spending more time in New Orleans since his recent death.
